Summary
Kyrgyzstan’s Digital Nomad status lets people in specified technology and digital-creative jobs apply to live and carry out their approved work in the country. You must hold a passport from one of 11 eligible countries and meet separate income and savings requirements.
The first approval lasts 60 days. To stay for a year, you need another application and additional medical and local business-registration documents.
Eligibility
Passport and profession
The eligible countries are Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Germany, Japan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Canada and most European countries are not on the list.
Your actual work must fit the professions listed in section 8 of the regulation. Having a remote job alone is not enough.
Income, savings, and documents
Prepare your employment or service contracts and evidence of your professional work. You need both:
- At least USD $5,000 in contract income over the previous year.
- A separate bank balance of at least USD $3,000.
The USD $5,000 test is annual income, not monthly income. Follow the required translation and document-authentication instructions.
For the later one-year application, you also need medical checks, continuing work and income records, and the required local registration: as an individual entrepreneur or through a qualifying company, branch, or representative office.
-
Check your passport and profession Confirm both fit the regulation and gather income and bank evidence.
-
Apply for initial Digital Nomad status Use the official platform and complete any separate DN visa requirements.
-
Complete the steps for a longer stay Prepare medical and local business-registration records and apply within 60 days.
Annual renewals may be available under the program; the initial approval is only for 60 days.
What This Route Allows
Approved status allows the covered professional activity without a separate work permit. The initial 60 days can be followed by a one-year extension and annual renewals under a framework of up to ten years, provided you continue to qualify.
If your nationality falls in the regulation’s visa-required group, you must also obtain the separate DN visa. The initial exemption from residence registration lasts only 60 days.
What This Route Is Not
This is not a ten-year permission issued at once, a tax exemption, or permanent residence. It does not cover every nationality or every kind of remote work.
A family member on an FF family visa does not share the main applicant’s work-permit exemption.
Next Steps
- Check your passport country and actual work against the current regulation.
- Prepare contracts, professional records, annual income evidence, the bank balance, and required translations for the official application platform.
- After initial approval, complete any separate visa, registration, medical, and business-registration steps. Apply for the one-year extension within the initial 60 days.
